Generally very approachable. Most would make good mentors. Communication style varies based on manager (also noting we work with Singapore managers and possible managers overseas if we are co-located on projects overseas). There are formal sessions for project leaders (who are managers or principals) to provide feedback. Some managers will be more proactive in checking in with your progress, others will do this less frequently. Just depends on who the manager is. From personal experience, I have experienced praise and recognition. I think most project leaders will be honest in feedback and will not be unnecessarily harsh.
Open desk policy + open floor plan leads to high engagement from managers + partners. Strong mentorship.
Would say managers are typically strong operators but would not say they are active mentors, which I think may be typical of consulting and other project-based industries (mainly due to short-term working basis and crunched timelines.) They provide extensive feedback at end of the project though, which is very helpful.
