There is ongoing mentorship and training offered for interns and graduates at the school. Peer observations, coaching sessions and new staff meetings all contribute to the growth and professional development of team members.
Numerous opportunities for professional development. Mentoring is effective and I feel supported from my leaders.
In my first year I was provided a mentor teacher who was an invaluable support. They assisted with planning, classroom activities, behaviour management, and anything I was having difficulties with. They would attend my classes and provide support and feedback on my teaching. I have been provided with less support in my second year but am aware that I can easily ask for support from any staff as needed. There is also schoolwide support offered with an induction program for first year teachers and weekly behaviour management sessions which have been extremely helpful. The whole school focus of intellectual preparation and explicit instruction has also been useful and relevant for practice.
