Part of the graduate program you get offered the first placement role at the end of the program. I prefer staying back in my second placement because i feel that it utilises my skills better and can see career progression.
All graduates at my company get an automatic promotion at the end of the 10 month long grad program. In my specific area in legal, i know recent grads are then able to advance fairly quickly with processes like broadbanding.
There is ample opportunity to move up the ranks especially in my team - there are always opportunities available. Whilst it may not be widely advertised, i know in my area there are so many opportunities to grow and move up the ranks - just need to know who to ask.
Choice of doing a second rotation based on individual's area of interest. Progress to aps5 after completing the national graduate program. Legal and ict group graduates can apply to progress aps6 through broadbanding process having met the requirements for aps6 classification.
There are clear progression steps in the agency for social workers. I can expect that i will be well supported to move to aps 6 at around 18 months of beginning the graduate program.
