Culture is pretty great, but the performance program can make you feel like you need to work overtime to catch up to your peers sometimes
My team is very social and we have great workplace culture. Atlassian runs tons of events, including a monthly themed office party, for us to connect with our colleagues. We also routinely use RCGs (company budget) to organise cool activities within the team. We do have an org chart and structure but we only rely on this when necessary (approving leave requests, getting feedback, ect), otherwise we act as a team of equals. Both grads and senior engineering managers can submit ideas and feedback for discussion or contribute to technical decisions.
Our company's values and culture are very positive and well-structured. We are always looking out for each other, jumping in to help whenever possible. We are encouraged to be the change we seek, always improving our processes and actions. We are also transparent and respectful at all times. The hierarchy is simple. We just have an engineering manager that we report to, and those managers have their own managers and finally our CEO. After hours, when we have ITGs we hang out and go for dinner, very casual and fun vibes. But otherwise after hours I never touch my laptop
