In my current rotation, I mostly help with BAU tasks including reviewing FX invoices for tax purposes, posting monthly journals, reviewing credit exposure and limits for our counterparties. With the recent year-end, I have helped in pulling together data for our year-end financials.
My day to day tasks involve two main projects that I work on, I mostly have to lay out my own day but have the odd meeting to go along to. The more I have settled into projects and into the job the more opportunities have come up and the easier it is to fill up the day. My projects involve a lot of computer Excel work and presentation creation. 90% of my job is desk based, with the very odd field work session to help with an output test or something similar. This is slightly different to what I was led to believe in the interview that the job would be almost half and half desk and field work.
I do find myself bored sometimes as I don't know what to do, but the tasks I am given are very meaningful and help me learn a lot. I am given a project which I will see from start to finish myself. This is a very good learning experience into project management as I will be dealing with contractors, stakeholders, colleagues, etc.
My role is very reactive to what is going on externally. Often it involves media monitoring, making communication plans for projects or events, keeping up with policies and how they may impact our operations, sharing news with our company internally as well as with external audiences.
