Some tasks are based in the warehouse so hands on pick packing, returns, inbound and outbound. Working on the floor and gaining experience. While other tasks are more office based.
Day to day tasks are all different and depend on your rotation. Got to take on every task willing to learn and happy to work hard. Once you accomplish that, the rewarding aspect of making a manager's life easier, contributing to a project or helping in operations kicks in. Some days I find myself struggling to find tasks but just showing initiative and making the most of any learnings a situation has is important.
A lot of the time I'm left twiddling my thumbs seeming like I'm begging for work from the leaders in each of my rotations. You really need to put yourself out there and ask for work. Some rotations seem to be more structured and busier so you will have more work. Other times it's a lot of being passed from person to person to do minor admin work for them. But at this stage I go see my rotation manager and see what they have for me to do that day.
My day-to-day work will depend on what rotation I am in. There is a large variety of work graduates can be involved with. Generally, graduates will have one or two things to focus on at a time.
The graduate role offers the opportunity to rotate through all the departments within our team in New Zealand. In addition to learning key concepts and procedures, you'll have the chance to take on real responsibilities depending on the projects happening in each rotation. These responsibilities can vary and may include tasks such as process improvements, compliance, reporting, and supporting new initiatives and solutions.
