Pay is reasonable I believe for a first-year graduate; the work has great social events as well as paying for our College of Law Profs qualifications, admission fees, as well as paying us whilst completing those studies.
Graduates typically receive a clothing allowance of $1,500 NZD on start date. The firm typically pays for ubers to or from any work-related events. The firm covers all costs of admission to the bar in NZ, including the costs of completing a professional legal studies course, filing fees, etc.
Free coffee and access to coffee machine at work + peer group budget
I think the pay at this level is very good and it is expected to increase again at the solicitor level. A real perk is the graduate induction held in Christchurch, with the firm covering costs including accommodation/food/activities/flights etc. The firm also gives an allowance for completing professional legal studies and pays the legal professional fees, as well as the costs for admission to the bar.
