Frequency is a specialist project management and advisory consultancy. We deliver critical infrastructure and built environments across Aotearoa.
As a Graduate Project Manager, my role is highly varied and gives me exposure to all aspects of project delivery. My responsibilities include attending and facilitating meetings, tracking project actions and risks, reviewing technical documentation, monitoring programmes and budgets, preparing reports, and assisting with procurement and contract administration activities. I am also involved in managing project communications, coordinating design reviews, and helping to resolve issues that arise during construction. One of the most rewarding aspects of the role is the level of responsibility I have been given. I currently lead my own project and am involved in number of others at different stages of delivery. This has allowed me to develop strong project management, communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and leadership skills while working alongside experienced professionals. No two days are the same, which keeps the role challenging and engaging. The variety of work and exposure to different projects has provided an excellent learning environment and accelerated my professional development.
Overall, very satisfied with the outcomes of my work, cool to see things get built as a result of something I did, or decision I made. Occasionally get stuck doing tedious tasks, but know it leads to a positive outcome.
A wide range of tasks - albeit it can be heavily dependent on the team you are in and the projects you are on. Some people will delegate more tasks and trust you with more and some tend to helicopter a bit more, but that's just dependent on the person
The work I do is meaningful, and I have a lot of responsibility after just under 2 years at Frequency. I have been seconded full time to Watercare and work as a Project Manager for small renewal projects, or as a Project Engineer for larger ones. Some day-to-day tasks include responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), preparing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), updating the forecast and programme, and reporting up to governance.
As a Project Manager Graduate, my day-to-day tasks are varied and give me good exposure across the project lifecycle. This includes taking and preparing meeting minutes, drafting and reviewing procurement documents, and liaising with different people across the project, from the team to external stakeholders. I regularly attend meetings covering areas like site inspections, health and safety, and design discussions, and I also get out on site to see how projects are progressing in person. It's a good mix of administrative, communication, and site-based work that gives me a well-rounded understanding of how projects come together. The company also gives you the opportunity to find what you enjoy.
