I was either helping the project engineer with errands or helping fitter-welders, I was taking inventory a lot or looking through design drawings.
Changes on a frequent basis due to internship role. Currently am inspecting local roads (surface conditions and culverts)
I underdstand the genuine value my work contributes toward keeping my community safer through roading maintence and improvements. This drives me the perform all day to day tasks to the best of my ability.
My role focused on helping the site engineers in any way possible, whether it’s assisting in managing small onsite projects, ensuring quality assurance of testing and surveying different stages of construction. I also compiled trucking hours and labourer hours into excel as well as creating job pacts and learning about permits, etc. It did feel sometimes however like it was a bit spontaneous whether I was given something to do or not, which is when I would head out to site and help the labourers and observe the different construction processes going on.
Current role is a graduate engineer. Working within the IDC maintenance dept. Day to day Inspecting faults on the SH network Pricing and programming faults into database for client approval Organising resource to complete jobs Subcontractor management to complete jobs Managing H&S / quality / enviro processes Managing quality of work and gathering / providing QA Creating / recieving invoices Making claims to client for works comlpeted Have slowly built into this range of work.
