From a personal perspective, I have a great relationship with my supervising partner. That said, I recognise that others across the firm may have different experiences with their own supervising partners.

My supervisor, who is also a partner, is very approachable and supportive. I have been through some challenging personal circumstances this year, and she has backed me 100% throughout, which I have really appreciated. She is always willing to answer questions, provide guidance, and help me develop my skills. Like many partners, she has a very busy workload, so there are times when it can feel like you are interrupting or bothering her when she is focused on a matter. However, that is more a reflection of how busy the role can be rather than a lack of willingness to help. There is always someone available to go to for support, whether that is another lawyer, senior staff member, or partner. We have set up a fortnightly coffee catch-up, which puts down a dedicated time to talk about how things are going, both professionally and personally. It is a good opportunity to discuss any positives, raise any concerns, and receive feedback. Having this time set aside makes it easier to communicate openly and ensures issues can be addressed early.

My supervising partners are very reasonable and provide good feedback. There is also a good sense of comradery in my team.
