Solicitor Get hands on opportunities across a range of matters. Often being the main person on files with the supervision of my supervising partner. For the most part (when the work is there) the work that I am doing is meaningful and provides an opportunity to learn and improve.
From the beginning, I was trusted with my own clients and responsibilities, which allowed me to develop my skills and confidence quickly. While I was given a lot of responsibility early on, I always had the support of my supervisor to guide me, answer questions, and ensure matters were progressing as they should. This meant I was challenged without feeling overwhelmed. There is still a lot to learn as a junior lawyer, and the work is very varied. One day you might be completing a conveyancing transaction or a commercial lease and the next you could be preparing a will. No two matters are exactly the same, so there is always something new to learn. Every transaction comes with its own challenge, which helps you continue developing your skills and knowledge.
I am a Law Clerk and primarily work to support others on files in my team. I often am working on preparing letters, court documents, emails, calling clients, attending meetings and attending court.
I am a law clerk in the property commercial team, I was previously working as a legal executive. My day to day tasks are always changing whether it is working on leasing work or developments, estate planning or residential conveyancing. No two days are the same and I really value the chance to work in a range or areas and have such a varied workload.
Drafting court documents, agreements, and letters to other lawyers. Talking to clients. Watching court proceedings. Satisfied with complexity of work - it is rewarding to learn about the law processes and help clients. I find it difficult that the overall focus is on making money for the firm, rather than what is best for the person.
