Flexible leave policy, retention bonus, professional studies paid for, free day of leave for both admission and graduation
A real benefit for graduates is that Holland Beckett covers the cost of tickets for graduates to attend the Tauranga Young Professionals events. These include quiz nights, golf activities, yoga sessions, the annual ball, and many other opportunities to connect with other young professionals in the region. The firm also offers really good incentives in the graduate positions to encourage long-term career development and retention, including a $20,000 bonus after three years and a further $25,000 bonus after five years. Holland Beckett also provides a range of benefits to support staff personally. Staff receive an annual wellness allowance of $500, which is encouraged to be used towards wellbeing-related expenses (gym, massage, facials, hobbies etc), while new graduates are provided with a $1,000 clothing allowance to help build their professional wardrobe. Once admitted the firms solicitors can also access up to $300 per year towards club or society fees. This could be a sports team, tennis club, surf club, bridge club etc. The firm also provides staff with an Uber account that is available to use to travel to/from meetings, functions, and networking events when required. They also put on a lot of fun events throughout the year, including mid-year and end-of-year celebrations.
From my understanding, this is above average compensation for a graduate law role. We also receive a $1,000 clothing allowance, professional studies are paid for, a work cellphone (including phone plan), a laptop and admittance to the graduate scheme (this allows for specific bonuses over 5 years depending on how long you decide to stay with the firm).
Generous leave policy, annual wellness benefits/bonuses and time off. They pay is exceptional for a graduate role, however, I am not coming from a place of a graduate in terms of experience given my time working at the firm and other qualifications.
Best perks: Admission and profs fees paid for. Phone provided and laptop, and phone plan. Clothing allowance.
