Holland Beckett is a leading full service law firm based in the Bay of Plenty, with offices in Tauranga, Rotorua, Whakatāne and Taupō.
The firm is involved in a range of sustainability and community initiatives, including donations, sponsorships, and providing pro bono legal advice to a number of organisations. Each team also gets community days to support local causes, and there are regular payroll giving opportunities, often supporting environmental or sustainability-focused initiatives. Overall, there is a genuine commitment to giving back to the community and supporting worthwhile causes.
The firm is actively involved in supporting local community and environmental initiatives. A recent example is Holland Beckett's partnership with Sea Cleaners, a New Zealand charity that removes litter from oceans, harbours, waterways, and coastlines. Through this partnership, the firm is helping fund clean-up operations in Tauranga Moana, supporting the removal of thousands of litres of rubbish from local waterways. Each team is also given a volunteer day each year to give back to the community. These days often involve environmental projects such as weeding gardens, removing rubbish from sand dunes, and planting native trees and shrubs.
There is an environmental committee and they attempt to reduce paper and encourage reusable cups and containers.
Environmental committee works to implement various initiatives into the firm
Worm bins = great. Recycling = okay but people don't do it correctly a lot of the time. AI = firm looking to expand in AI which is less good for sustainability. Changing office = lots of furniture and other items thrown away. Coffee cups provided = great. Environment committee does work regularly on sustainable issues so that's good. Definitely scope for staff to encourage more sustainability efforts.
