There are huge opportunities for growth and learning within the firm. All of the younger solicitors are really generous with their time, and the partners are more than happy to let the summer clerks come along to client meetings and experience their work first-hand.
There was a good set of induction training and the "buddy" system means there is always some one to help show you how to do things or best ways to attack a task. If you want feedback from partners you will need to actively seek it - definitely ask them for a formal catchup at the end of the programme. Set it up yourself so you get one on one time for longer than 15 minutes.
We spent the first day or two having an induction training. During this process you learn more about the firm and how the internship will operate. You are allocated a buddy for each rotation. This is someone to turn to for guidance or just a chat. After each rotation you are given a feedback session your partner to see how you went. In addition, every second week all clerks and HR meet up to discuss the internship. We discuss the highs/lows and HR is there to help support you through the whole process.
There was a good amount of training and mentorship in the role. At the beginning, there were quite a few modules we had to do however I think just asking your team questions and getting feedback was the way I learnt the most.
