Mainfreight place a heavy importance on CSR and are constantly doing good things for the local and wider communities. One example of this is: every branch does some form of Idea Day, which is where we transform our branch into a fun space filled with games, stands, decorations, food stalls etc, and invite people from the community who face daily challenges, to come and enjoy our event. We have many donations from customers, our truck drivers volunteer their time and trucks to drive people around the depot, and our entire team show up to facilitate the event and make sure everything runs smoothly. Mainfreight also do frequent community days where we pick up rubbish, plant trees, build sandpits at local schools etc. This gets everyone from the branch involved to give back to the community. Mainfreight also run many annual events for a variety of charities. These include running for Round the Bays, a variety of Movember campaigns, Pink Breakfast for Breast Cancer, and donating to local food banks etc. Mainfreight also sponsor a local primary school, Bairds Mainfreight Primary School. Mainfreight have sponsored them for the past thirty years as they believe that education has a big part to play in helping our tamariki achieve future success. Ways that Mainfreight help the school are with a Books in Homes sponsorship, supporting them to ensure that they have the best devices and IT, annual trips to Waiheke, scholarships for college, university and other tertiary learning for who have been students at BMPS and so much more.
Mainfreight has multiple initiatives that align with CSR. We are a customer focused company and ensure that our customers receive the best service possible giving us a competitive advantage over competitors. Our approach to problems is in a professional and empathetic manner. Our goals and performance are transparent with the team which offers an unconscious motivating technique to continue working hard and be better than the day before. Promotion from within the business enables knowledge to be passed on from one role to another preventing inaccuracies and disjointedness. Our training team work hard to ensure all team members work in a safe environment and are provided with the opportunity to progress and reach career goals. At Mainfreight we have a very unique culture which is based off our Three pillars approach. This outlines our core business structure of Culture, Family and Philosophy and is "the Mainfreight way". Upon employment we seek applicants who best represent and practice these values to ensure our business culture is maintained and strengthened. As one of our managers once said, "employ someone who you think is better than you." Our team is encouraged to practice each and every initiative on a daily basis. We are very onwards and upwards, progression and exposure to new ideas is how we thrive.
Culture in Mainfreight is very important, numerous activities and social things put on at branch level and national level
