There is an entire Training and Development team at Mainfreight which solely focus on courses and opportunities for the team to upskill and learn the culture of Mainfreight. As a graduate, you are placed with other graduates and given mentors from different divisions who have had a similar career path to you. This is very inspiring to see others who have become successful and also establishes connections with different people across the business. They also offer many different training courses such as DG handling, forklift licensing, time management, sales, and leadership.
Our training team are fantastic at tailoring learning opportunities to best suit each individual. These skills are taught to be integrated into day to day operations and help us to be prepared for more formal instances. The team work hard to teach skills that can be easily used every day.
I am very satisfied with the training and opportunities offered since starting the graduate programme. I have been assigned a mentor, who knows a lot about the company and keeps me motivated to keep improving. Having a mentor is something that has really helped since i have started and eased the transition of going from student/uni life to working full time. Having a mentor is something i believe is a valuable tool/idea that not every company offers and am grateful to have one. The opportunity to go on courses run by the company such as the supply chain induction which run over three days, that allows people new to the company to meet others and learn about what Mainfreight is really about, from the ground up.
Internal courses on offer tailored to different roles Any team member can go on a course if they like, some courses are required that are about personal and professional development
They run several internal courses each year. Great for upskilling in specific areas, they also run leadership programmes that extend past the work environment.
