Oliver Wyman is a global leader in management consulting, with offices in 70 cities across 30 countries.
The people are the highlight of my job. It is motivating to be around people who are so smart, motivated and kind. I feel teams are well-run by good leaders and I have made a lot of friends at work.
Our Perth office is relatively small, which creates a friendly and approachable culture with a fairly flat hierarchy. Everyone is accessible, from consultants through to partners, and there is a strong emphasis on teaming and supporting one another. Because consultants are often travelling or working at client sites, the office can sometimes be quite quiet during the week, but we make an effort to have as many people as possible in the office on Fridays. This is usually accompanied by a social activity, whether that's a team lunch, coffee run, dinner or another organised event. We also regularly host colleagues visiting from other Oliver Wyman offices, which is a great way to build relationships across the firm and share different perspectives. While the travel requirements can make it challenging to spend time together consistently, the office puts genuine effort into fostering a collaborative and social environment whenever people are in the same place.
Genuinely excellent and supportive team culture, making working slightly longer hours very manageable. Relatively flat team culture where everyone is encouraged to speak up and contribute to problem solving and team discussions, and plenty of socialising amongst colleagues - across the organisational hierarchy too. It is common for partners and graduates to each lunch at the same table.
