In terms of career progression, moving upwards can be a little different within HR, as I have come to understand that it is not always a linear profession. TWG has many people who have been with the organisation for decades and are happy in their roles, which can naturally make traditional upward progression look a little different. However, there is a lot of opportunity to move across the organisation, explore different areas and try new things. For me, that flexibility and ability to build experience across different parts of the business is a real positive.
Promotion is definitely possible at TWG, I know quite a lot of people who have moved up the ranks within my short time here. I believe doing good work, being proactive, and being a personable and easy person to work with goes a long way in keeping yourself visible for progression. There are annual performance reviews and although upsetting, restructures and redesigns also leave room for junior employees to rise up the ranks, move between departments, and fill vacancies.
Many interns were fortunate to keep their roles (including the one who followed me) however, as the business was in a restructure at the end of the year, I was not able to keep my role
It's a little early in my internship to give a proper insight here, but i have had conversations about my future beyond the internship with the talent acquisition team previously, and i imagine this will be something that happens again sometime in the future.
