as an intern, they sort of put you to the side and don't put a lot of effort into training you well which means you sort of have to figure things out on your own.
I didn't have a finance background prior to the programme, but through on the job training with the business team in dealership and my TFS training with Derek has given me a solid foundation upon which I am growing professionally each day. I've also done UDC training. Given my lack of finance background, I have learnt almost everything I know about it in the past 12 months! Specifically, lending legislation (CCCFA, CGA etc), systems (ePos, TUNZ, UDC Live), product knowledge etc. My ability in math is also the best is ever been!
COVID impacted this greatly
Honestly the training was quite average. A lot of the time I just sat watching people. My Marketing Manager made up for this as she gave me extensive training and is super knowledgable in the field
Toyota NZ guaranteed training as part of the graduate programme, however this was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions throughout 2020 which is understandable. For most areas of my role, I have taught myself (beyond the scope of my degree). They allow me time to research/ learn during work hours, however I have never been sent on a training during my time here. Thinking about it, I would be eager to but I have never asked. If I did, I imagine training opportunities would be made available.
