My current manager is fine - available when I need him - but no I dont think trimble has good managers overall - oh I did meet one actually.I think that often people think they want to be managers because they want to climb the ranks but really they are just micro managers and spend too much time in the weeds - my pm is like that - hopeless really - it takes very particular skill set to be a good manager and maybe trimble should ensure that people who request to be managers go through a selection test to see if they have those skills ....
Very easy to access, I can talk to them any time.
Managers are readily accessible and provide good advice. Often they're not technically-minded, but this is nothing unexpected in engineering. They are, however, very helpful for understanding and navigating the bureaucracy of the organisation. Performance reviews are done twice a year, although there are regular "1-on-1's" which can happen weekly to monthly, depending on your needs and preference. The 1-on-1s are an easy way to get feedback and discuss goals/issues without needing to wait months and months.
My manager is very accessible and has been a great mentor for me when it comes to product thinking. Very communicative of changes occurring in the team and organization.
