Structure and Hierarchy Our organisational structure is designed to be agile and fairly flat, especially within our product and technology teams. While there are clear leadership roles, the emphasis is on accessibility and open communication rather than a rigid, top down hierarchy. Senior leaders are approachable, and we encourage everyone to contribute ideas. We primarily operate in cross-functional squads, which gives people real #Ownership over their work and cuts down on red tape, allowing them to work directly with colleagues across the business to get things done. Cooperation and Teamwork Teamwork is a massive part of how we operate, and it’s central to our #Team value. We foster a highly collaborative environment where sharing knowledge and helping each other out is the norm. Day to day work involves close cooperation, whether through agile ceremonies or just pairing up to crack a tricky problem. We actively encourage working across different departments, so it's very common to see our engineering, product, and design folks all collaborating closely on the same project to deliver beautiful outcomes for our customers. Socialising and Office Culture The social culture at Xero is friendly, welcoming, and down to earth. In the Office: During the day, there's always a good buzz around the place. You'll find people connecting over a coffee, sharing lunch in our kitchens, or catching up in the breakout areas. We also make sure to celebrate team wins and milestones, which helps keep everyone connected. It doesn't always get things right but it is a culture that encourages learning and growth. After Hours: Socialising often extends beyond the workday, but there's never any pressure, as we really respect everyone's work life balance. Activities are varied and driven by our people from casual after work drinks and team dinners to joining clubs for interests like sports or board games. These gatherings are a great, relaxed way to connect with colleagues, reflecting our #Human value.
Great workplace culture, respectful people around the place opening doors and making space for others. People are focused on their work and on getting to know their peers in a balanced way. Team events are organised in working time and occasionally outside of working time, but not compulsory outside of normal working hours. People of different ranks of hierarchy all mixed in, working with one another, which is nice to get exposure to others and network. Lots of friendly support available in-person and via Slack
