The process began with a message to the hiring manager along with the standard cover letter and CV application. From there we underwent psychometric testing where we received a personal call discussing our results where our strengths, weaknesses, and traits were identified. After this there was a shortlisting process where 14 of the applicants were invited to an assessment centre at the Z Shed in Wellington (those not from Wellington were flown in for this day). At the assessment centre there were a range of different activities and tasks designed to see who we are and whether we would be compatible with the Z culture, it also provided us with the opportunity to connect with the applicants and the successful grads from the previous year. From there an interview took place towards the end of the day where we were made to feel welcomed and encouraged to be ourselves. We then received a call the next day regarding whether we were successful or not, taking away the stress of waiting to hear about the result.
After submitting my cover letter and CV, I had to complete an online psychometric test (abstract, numerical, literacy tests). After successfully getting through to the next stage, we were brought to an all-day assessment center for interviews and a group assessment. The interview was with two people who were to be our mentors. The group assessment was a relaxed environment where we were given a case study on a genuine product in our Z Stores, and we had to decipher why that product wasn't launched well.
We attended an assessment centre day as part of the recruitment process. This assessment centre involved hearing from speakers across Z, a group assessed activity and an interview at the end of the day.
We were asked to complete a numerical and verbal reasoning test, as well as a values test. We were then shortlisted and flown to the Wellington head office for the assessment day. We participated in a group-based activity as well as a 1-on-1 interview.
It started with the usual submission of a CV and cover letter. The next steps involved an online numeracy, literacy and abstract reasoning tests as well as a personality test. There was an assessment centre after this at the Wellington office which involved group activity and interview.
