Z Energy has the Good in the Hood initiative that helps donate money to local groups across New Zealand. There are also initiatives aimed at increasing trust and awareness within high-deprivation communities by building on-the-ground relationships through regional funding, demonstrating the involvement of Z in local communities. There are also a range of different sustainability initiatives in place from partnering with Permanent Forests New Zealand to offset carbon emissions by planting different exotic and native forestry, to retail sustainability where site staff aim to reduce landfill and energy use in everyday operations. Z also offers employees two paid days of volunteering leave to volunteer for a non-profit organisation. This year I volunteered for one day at the SPCA where I spent the day doing tasks such as building animal boxes, creating adoption packs, labelling/pricing items for sale, general gardening. and cuddling/playing with the animals.
Volunteering days for all employees at Z. Good in the hood, at Z retail sites. Donating money to local groups
As one of our benefits at Z, we get 2 volunteering days per year, this is where we get to go out in the community and help out. This year myself and some other graduates volunteered at the SPCA in Wellington.
Z provides employees with two paid volunteering days a year. I personally have taken a day to volunteer at the SPCA.
