Employees are given paid volunteer days to give back to their communities and support causes they care about. This could involve activities such as planting trees, volunteering at the SPCA, or helping out with a local charity or community organisation. It's a great opportunity to make a positive impact while contributing to causes that are meaningful to you.
Z runs a number of great community initiatives, such as Good in the Hood. The company also provides all employees with two days of volunteering leave each year, giving people the opportunity to support causes and organisations that are important to them.
Z Energy demonstrates a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility through its focus on sustainability and supporting New Zealand's transition to a lower emissions future. During my time as a graduate, I contributed to the House View of Demand project, which involved analysing historical fuel demand, EV and hybrid vehicle uptake, vehicle sales, and wider market trends to help forecast future energy demand in New Zealand. It was rewarding to work on a project that supports long-term strategic planning as the country's transport energy demand continues to evolve. Z also invests in its people and communities by promoting diversity and inclusion, supporting te reo M?ori and M?ori culture, and fostering a workplace where employees are encouraged to learn, grow, and contribute. Even as a graduate, it's been great to see how these commitments are reflected in both the company's strategy and its day-to-day culture. Z also have commitment through initiatives such as good in the hood, which helps to support local community through funding.
Z Energy has the Good in the Hood initiative that helps donate money to local groups across New Zealand. There are also initiatives aimed at increasing trust and awareness within high-deprivation communities by building on-the-ground relationships through regional funding, demonstrating the involvement of Z in local communities. There are also a range of different sustainability initiatives in place from partnering with Permanent Forests New Zealand to offset carbon emissions by planting different exotic and native forestry, to retail sustainability where site staff aim to reduce landfill and energy use in everyday operations. Z also offers employees two paid days of volunteering leave to volunteer for a non-profit organisation. This year I volunteered for one day at the SPCA where I spent the day doing tasks such as building animal boxes, creating adoption packs, labelling/pricing items for sale, general gardening. and cuddling/playing with the animals.
