As part of the Management Trainee program, we undergo various learning and development initiatives designed to build both functional and foundational competencies. These include business unit and department-specific process trainings, as well as programs focused on emotional intelligence, project management, critical thinking, and other professional skills that support long-term career growth. The quality and frequency of feedback and coaching can vary among Management Trainees, as each trainee is assigned to a different manager. In my experience, one of the challenges was transitioning into my role and taking on BAU responsibilities without receiving sufficient foundational coaching on key processes. As a result, I had to learn many aspects of the role independently. Additionally, my manager had a demanding workload, which sometimes limited opportunities for regular consultation and hands-on guidance.Provide your feedback on BizChatHow to advocate for better coaching? What kind of coaching is most effective? How to learn processes independently?FilesFiles
I have been assigned several tasks by my supervisor that allow me to hone and practice critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Considering that I have little to no experience in the role I'm currently in, the tasks assigned to be were very helpful and taught me a lot about product management through examples and experience.
Majority of the development opportunities I've had were through coaching and mentoring seniors and managers. Actual trainings are not that many, and are not effectively advertised to the employees.
