Our team currently has only one Assistant Manager. While we recognize that she is relatively new to the team and brings experience from another big 4 firm, I have found that the guidance and mentorship available could be further strengthened. For example, when we raise technical tax questions, we are often directed to conduct our own research without sufficient guidance on the approach or resources to consider. While independent learning is important, more active coaching would help accelerate our development and improve the efficiency of resolving technical issues. Additionally, there have been instances where delays in the submission of deliverables were questioned despite circumstances beyond the team's control, such as work suspensions, public holidays, or delays in the receipt of client information and supporting documents. Greater consideration of these factors when assessing engagement timelines and deliverable expectations would help foster a more supportive and realistic working environment.
