It's mostly toxic and chaotic, lot's of processes and always changing without a clear goal.
Uber consistently: 1) Underpays drivers, often taking 75% of the rider's fare, but claim they only take 25-30% 2) Plays bait and switch. I've received offers to provide a ride at a certain price, but when I dropped off the passenger, I was paid significantly less - sometimes half of the original offer 3) Uber sets up "Quests" to encourage drivers to be in certain areas. The Quest offers LOOK great. The issue is that Uber sets restrictions in the fine print that make it nearly impossible to earn the offered reward 4) Transparency is non existent. Uber charges a mysterious "Insurance and expenses" category of fees to the dr8ver that is usually 27-30% of the riders fee, but Uber can't tell me exactly how much they pay to cover me. I have Rideshare coverage added to my personal policy and pay less than $100/month, $1.0 million coverage. Uber still charges 27-30% for their insurance that doesn't cover anything, and has a max payout of $10,000 (Ohio Stat minimum), and won't let me opt out. 5) You can't trust Uber's insurance coverage. I was in an Uber sponsored rental, working and hit a deer, totalling the rental. Uber's insurance wouldn't cover damage to the rental, in spite of advertising that if you rent from Budget/Avis, you don't need to buy your own insurance policy- you're covered. I paid for the damage to the totaled car OUT OF POCKET. 6) If you have a problem, their help system is TERRIBLE. You're forced into an A.I. loop, and 8f you need a live person, hours are limited, and the agents are 100% scripted, meaning they can't actually engage and help with one off issues - the reason you're calling Support to begin with. 7) Your status as a driver is always at risk. You're always one false accusation or documentation error away from permanent deactivation. Disputing deactivation is supposedly possible. In practice, you never talk to a person, and even when you produce evidence in the form of official Court Documents that there was an error; they won't reactivate. Personal experience on that one! I was cited improperly in an accident. I went to court and the citation was immediately dismissed. Uber STILL counts it against me and has deactivated my account.
Management, nepotism, bullying, over worked.
