After a vicious negotiation with a staffing agency where the woman ended two calls in tears, I went to another one and got a 25% payrise. Including false threats to withdraw the offer. Because it was a staffing agency role I had zero benefits, zero paid holidays or sick pay etc.
No promotions ever came to me. This is a horrible place to work. I was paid $3.15 per hour for the 15,000 hours I worked and traveled at this company over three years.
You are underpaid for the amount of work you have to do. You do not have real benefits or say in anything that happens in the department until you become full-time.
