Approachable managers. Good communication.
Some are better than others, however the best mentors I've had so far have mostly been coworkers. It sometimes seems people at the company are promoted based on technical skill and process knowledge, which comes at the expense of soft skills.
They don't provide guidelines of what is expected of me, and they don't initiate formal performance reviews.
