The training in my experience has been learning on the job. There wasn't any formal training. But the company gives you time and space to develop the skills you want/need and accommodates your interests and learning goals.
A good balance between guided courses, dedicated training sessions and getting hands-on as you learn on the job.
I have definitely learnt a lot, across QGIS, MUSIC modelling, WBNM, TUFLOW and more. For all of these, I didn't receive formal training, but rather on the job training with a more senior coworker. A lot of them are really great teachers so this a helpful way to learn. The only downside is that there are some gaps in my knowledge that would have been filled by a basic formal training course, and which my teachers might have assumed I already knew. I was thrown into the deep end with certain jobs which definitely accelerated my growth in TUFLOW. Prawi especially has been fantastic at giving feedback on things I've worked on and is probably the closest person I have to a mentor, if not in an official capacity.
There isn’t a formal training or mentoring program, but if you show interest in a particular field or type of project, people are more than happy to get you involved. The team is really supportive, and there’s always someone willing to answer questions or help you build your skills. It’s a great environment for learning on the job and shaping your experience based on what you’re interested in.
