Managers are very approachable, most of my informal mentoring has come through them. Both a formal and informal approach to feedback and recognition, feels like they adapt to the needs of their team and individuals.
Manager quality has varied significantly in my experience. My previous supervisor was exceptional highly supportive, accessible, and invested in helping me learn and develop, despite seeming to receive very little recognition for the work he put into mentoring others. My current manager is also supportive and brings a wealth of experience, although their management style is different. More broadly, I've found leadership to be a mixed bag. Some managers and senior leaders genuinely care about their people and invest time in their development, while others seem more focused on the work itself than on supporting employees. On the positive side, the managers responsible for graduates, interns, and other early-career employees have been very approachable and clearly care about helping people succeed. Communication, feedback, and recognition can vary depending on the team and manager. Overall, there are some excellent mentors within the business, but the employee experience can depend heavily on who you work for.
Yes to being great mentors, going out of there way to help and explain. Make you feel super welcome and give regular feedback where required.
