From a technical perspective, most training occurs on the job - as in, if the project requires that work be done, that is when you will learn how to do it. The team does have ad hoc lunch and learn sessions that focus on more technical design learning. With regard to things specific to process engineering, creating PFDs, P&IDs, developing mass balances, tender documentation, learning aspects of project management. The graduate program runs learning modules that focus on the soft skills and career development. This occurs monthly. Performance feedback occurs one a year, with more informal feedback occurring throughout the year. Senior engineers are good at providing informal feedback during projects.
Professional subscription is provided so networking events and training is possible. The first year grad connect event was awesome. The budget however seems to have decreased recently hindering any other training events for the year.
Grads are provided with in house training modules, which are very formal/corporate and prepared by a team. But most of my learning has come from working under seniors on real projects. I have also accrued soft skills by talking to clients as well as suppliers.
