I think the opportunities to work through different teams is fantastic for career progression. I think in general, BHP has good opportunities to experience a broad range of People higher in the organisation suggesting we shouldn't expect a job at the end of the program is incredibly discouraging. I think most grads understand nothing is a given, but it causes unnecessary stress to suggest we can't expect anything. I was under the impression when I applied for this job that every effort would be made to place grads into a position, even if it's not quite what we had hoped for, but it doesn't seem that way when you are hearing cautions of "don't expect anything".
On relocating to a new city to live I was informed that my department had just been through a restructuring and that it was now far over head count. The people who had interviewed me were either made redundant or had moved onto another area.
