Yes I feel confident about my upwards progression possibilities here. I also feel confident that I can explore other opportunities domestically and internationally through secondment pathways through Corrs.
There is a clear track for internal promotions and the requirements are fairly transparent. My employer does provide opportunities to fulfill career aspirations, even outside of internal promotions, such as the opportunity to undertake international or client secondments, international study scholarships and overseas referrals.
Employees applying for promotion (e.g. to become a Senior Associate, or eventually a Partner) need to demonstrate their technical skills and ability to delegate work effectively, as well as a strong commitment to business development and that they are capable of creating an effective professional network. My firm provides mentoring opportunities at various levels of seniority which help employees in their career journey.
The promotion possibilities appear to be relatively lockstep to an extent, before it becomes more merits based. There is plenty of opportunities to demonstrate your excellence and why you should progress in the firm. There is also a lot of space to direct your own career and work on matters and in areas that you find interesting
Corrs has a lock-step model whereby for the first three years you move up the chain automatically. After that, promotion depends on work performance, extra-circulars and bring in new clients to the firm. Corrs is very focused on learning and development and encouraging employees to push themselves to reach their potential. I think it's a great firm for anyone wanting to fulfil their potential and their career aspirations.
