I feel like I genuinely contribute meaningful work within the team. At all stages of my career so far I have been involved with meaningful work including drafting of advice, communications with clients, and the ability to seek out work that I like.
My role day-to-day is to support the senior lawyers and partners in providing client deliverables. This ranges from conducting legal research on client questions, drafting the first cut of client correspondence and reviewing bills to the client, to also drafting court submissions, liaising with barristers and attending trial to support instructing solicitors.
I am given a broad variety of work assisting with advice to clients, business development efforts, drafting and revising of documents, document review and due diligence, and attending and supporting partners during client calls.
Obviously as a junior you do receive some grunt work, but that is only a tiny aspect of the work I have been given. I have been involved and taken the lead on some very interesting and engaging matters, both from a transactional and litigious point of view. My day to day tasks may include undertaking due diligence, considering strategy for an upcoming trial with counsel and people within the firm and preparing documents for filing, researching particular areas of law and preparing advice
As a junior lawyer, I couldn't ask for more meaningful work. The work at Corrs is large-scale, complex and junior lawyers are given significant responsibility at an early stage to speed-up their development
