Department of the Treasury

I was recruited a bit differently to other graduates at Treasury. I was recruited through the Australian Government Digital Grad Program by APSC (who run all of the assessments and processes). The recruitment process felt fairly easy because there weren't any face-to-face interviews to get into the merit pool. After you successfully join the merit pool, you are sent a list of Australian Government agencies and departments who are looking for digital graduates, and they advertise the number of positions available as well as salary, benefits, office location and general information about the program/department.

Application included detailed cover letter asking a question regarding interest in policy and economics. Moved to an assessment centre of relevant skills. One interview

The AGGP legal stream was a thorough process. My main issue with the process was that despite knowing I was going to put Treasury as my number 1 preference, I wasn't able to chat with anyone from Treasury until the offer had already been made. In my interview I wasn't able to ask Treasury-specific questions because the interview was conducted by AGD staff.

Great- assessments were not too onerous (eg. only have 24 hours to complete aptitude testing immediately after initial application).
