Government Procurement training courses A lot of Webinars happening Mentoring programs Colabs - training for graduates
TMR provides a range of training and development opportunities for graduates and employees. One of the key programs are the CoLab sessions, which are held twice a year and provide opportunities to develop professional skills while networking with peers. Employees also have free access to LinkedIn Learning, which offers thousands of online courses covering technical, leadership, communication, project management, and software skills. This makes it easy to pursue self directed learning and professional development. As part of the graduate program, I have also benefited from mentoring, regular feedback from supervisors, on the job learning, and exposure to a variety of engineering projects. Through these experiences, I have developed my technical engineering knowledge, communication skills, stakeholder engagement, project management capabilities, and confidence working in multidisciplinary teams.
Training opportunities delivered by the Graduate Team and external presenters they bring in through the Graduate Program have been fantastic, and allowed me to learn lots about myself, my personality, my strengths and weaknesses in my job, how I learn best, how to work in the corporate sphere and how to best prepare myself to achieve my goals and progress professionally. On-the-job training has been limited due to how busy my team is, but my workplace has been supportive of some external training opportunities I have asked to attend.
There is a good mix of formal and informal training in the role, but development largely comes from on job learning. Early on, there are internal training modules to build an understanding of systems and processes, which are then reinforced through day today work. A key area of development has been analytical skills and analysing transport data as part of real projects. This has helped build confidence in interpreting data and supporting decision-making. The graduate program offers additional support through mentoring and structured learning opportunities, while within my team there are regular opportunities provided to take on new work and build skills. Overall, development is driven by a strong combination of hands‑on experience, supported learning, and team guidance.
I love the Graduate Cohort and it is a great opportunity for us to know how it works at TMR and who are your same-age graduate. But, I am in the regional office, same as many others. I missed lots of opportunities for networking young engineers, especially 99 percent of events were organised in Brisbane.
