In R1 (ESC, Enforcement), I felt like I was given the correct level of day-to-day responsibility for a grad, while also being provided with periodic optional opportunities to do higher VPS grade tasks. I really liked this, as it allowed me to learn how the commission worked at a manageable pace, but also pushed me outside my comfort zone every so often. This helped me build my confidence when I successful achieved more advanced goals. In this role I did a lot of evidence gathering and analysis, assisted with writing and reviewing briefs, and got an opportunity to present a brief to commissioners. In R2 (VSBA, Priorities and Quality Assurance), the types of tasks I completed included responding to minister's office requests and correspondence, coordinating cabinet submission comments, and keeping the meeting brief tracker up to date. This role is great for a grad as you get to do the same type of work as the rest of your teammates (although aren't usually managing as many tasks at a time), which means you interact with your colleagues very regularly and on a more even playing field (compared to the other roles I've been in). I felt less like a 'grad' and more like a regular team member which was a nice change. So far in R3 (DEECA, Office of the ED for P&C) I've been working on a project to update all the 'Quick Reference Guides' available to DEECA staff to assist them to complete HR self-service functions like submitting timesheets or submitting leave requests. This project will also involve compiling all this information into an intranet page, which will make the guides easily accessible to DEECA staff. I've also been assisting with updating Learning and Development documents and resources, and the coordination the November DEECA staff Orientation. Further, I've had the chance to sit on weekly meetings regarding the procurement of a new system.

I always try to learn and gain new ideas and knowledge in my role.
