We have a great culture. Even though there is a "technical" hierarchy, I can speak to Directors with no hesitation. As a matter of fact, my first week a Director helped me polish my CV - and I felt I could reach out at any time. Socialising is amazing as well, I think most of us get along and actually like the people we work with. We also hold space for us to share internally if we are having a challenging experience with an engagement, or even share personal dealings. We also celebrate us as people - when we have engagements, welcoming babies, dog play dates, etc. Cooperation can also be seen when we do things out of work such as the Spartan Challenge, as it is very supportive. I feel escient really lives their values and with the people it employs.
Everyone at Escient is so welcoming and inclusive - there is always someone to turn to for a chat, debrief, or a laugh. We all have each others' backs and really live by the values of courage, selflessness and creativity. After work hours socialising is somewhat limited depending on what office you're based in, but we occassionally have social days for fundraising or volunteering.
Culture is great in the company which is reflected in how they hire their people. Everyone is incredibly supportive and wants to help. Seen through the pod structure where you have a direct manager who manages your growth, development and wellbeing. For all other queries can be directed to your buddy who you are assigned when you begin. Often your buddy is a quick access contact who is available to answer whatever question. In regards to ELT, although busy, they are always there to talk things through and ask questions to. They do try and engage with all of us however given their workload it can be harder to find time with them. But the intentions of all leaders is very pure, they just want to help. In terms of socialising out of work, its often encouraged to find time to connect out of work. We have a social committee who is in charge of team building activities and social activities that are after hours or on the weekend. Culture really promotes bonding between the team and allowing a safe, fun space to work.
I think the structure works well, but I do think that leadership skills need to be refined within the team. There’s good cooperation and teamwork and the team are very social.
Our organisational culture is exemplary. Top-down communication is transparent, open and regular. All employees have an opportunity to provide feedback and contribute to internal initiatives. Senior and experienced consultants are eager to offer mentorship and guidance and most employees make a strong effort to make others feel welcome and supported. There are a range of socialising opportunities both during and after hours. There is no unhealthy culture or expectations regarding staff/team drinks. I have encountered no negative office politics in my 13 months at the company.
