There's so much diversity in what I do day-to-day as a consultant. Often it's attending meetings to contribute ideas about a project, sometimes it's doing the actual work of documentation and interviewing stakeholders.
When on an engagement my role is often involved with note taking, summarising and theorising problems and their solutions. As well as creating documentation to support businesses through a change or a project. Every day can be different at Escient however when on a longer project, every day can be the same. The variety however is good and so pinning down your own responsibilities can be hard. When on the bench or not on an engagement, you can be pulled into different directions helping with proposals or internal initiatives.
I currently working in mining, within the IT department. I work in change management for Procurement as well as the coordination of the project management office, Audit activities and general delivery support.
I mainly work in analyst and coordination roles in project/program management. Whilst the projects are a good opportunity at my level, I rarely feel challenged or fully utilised. This is despite my efforts to seek out opportunities to contribute.
