It is a 2-year contract role, there is no promise of a job afterwards. I have just started so unsure how many opportunities will come after completion, but I will say the networking opportunities so far will absolutely provide opportunities.
The graduate program rotations provide opportunities to network and explore suitable role within government. However, the program does not guarantee permanent position after the completion of the program.
Once the graduate program is complete there is support to obtain a higher level role.
At the moment in the Queensland Government there is a hiring freeze so it is already quite stressful thinking about getting a job after the program as there is not a guaranteed position.
After a year of the program, you are allowed to apply for higher duties. This significantly increases your pay and career growth while still being supported by the graduate program .
