Induction week in Melbourne extremely helpful introduction to using the systems used in the workplace. Since induction week, the Graduates have had training with numerous different departments presenting on use of technology, skills in presenting and appearing in court, court etiquette, drafting and legal research etc. However, rotation specific training has been limited.
The training has been great thus far. As graduates we were invited to an induction week with the firm where we spent time socialising and learning about the firms processes and behaviours, which was a valuable experience. The feedback and coaching have also been a highlight. As I said before, senior lawyers and partners are excited to help you learn and are willing to provide genuine and meaningful feedback in anything that you do.
I have been completing PLT concurrently with my employment as a graduate. The firm is very supportive through providing study leave days and also funding the study itself. Other development opportunities include learning and development sessions that are run throughout the graduate program, mid-rotation and end of rotation feedback meetings with my supervisor and the Early Careers Consultant, and an informal mentor for the graduate year.
