All graduates have the possibility of moving from an APS4 to an APS5 (or in very few cases to an APS6) at the end of the graduate program. When applying, it was advertised that progression was guaranteed at the end of the program and it was not until I started the graduate program that I was informed you have to do an interview, written pitch and be assessed by your managers to advance. More transparency about this process would be good to have at the application stage. The NIAA is also going through a restructure which may reduce progression opportunities.
There is opportunity to progress after the graduate year.
Not many opportunities for now due to changing structures that are happening.
At the current time, it feels very difficult to be able to move up the ranks despite having previous experience at higher levels.
