There are definitely opportunities for career progression, but in my experience a lot of it is self-driven. Particularly on the networking side, there is a significant amount of industry knowledge to build over time, including understanding the broader telecommunications landscape, national priorities, and how the business contributes to them. Progression often comes from being proactive about your development, having clear career goals, and regularly discussing those goals with your manager. Building strong relationships with leaders and mentors can also help, as they can provide guidance, advocacy, and opportunities to develop the skills needed to take on greater responsibility and drive business outcomes. I believe the organisation provides opportunities to support a range of career aspirations through different teams, projects, rotations, and learning experiences. However, making the most of these opportunities requires ownership of your own development, resilience when facing challenges or setbacks, and adaptability when factors such as team priorities, budgets, or rotation timeframes influence what opportunities are available.
