There doesn't seem to be much focus on sustainability.
burn and non-burn rubbish bins. Strict no littering culture. No plastic takeaway containers. Seedling planting projects to re-vegetate areas.
Newmont has sustainability as a core value and is talked about almost daily as a key focus alongside safety and production. The company demonstrates the work they do in the environment and sustainability space which I value a lot
Sustainability is actively embedded in site operations. One example I've observed is the use of designated burn bins for waste management, which are operated under strict procedures to ensure safety and environmental compliance. These facilities are managed in accordance with the site's Waste Management Plan, which outlines how burn and non-burn landfill areas are rotated and enclosed to minimise risks, including dingo access and emissions. Additionally, there's a strong emphasis on keeping work areas clean and hazard-free, which contributes to both environmental integrity and operational safety.
