My role offers strong training and development opportunities. We have three hours set aside every Friday morning dedicated to upskilling, where we can complete training, learn new tools, or focus on personal and professional development. As a graduate, I receive performance feedback every two weeks, which has been really helpful for tracking my progress and identifying areas to improve. There’s also a strong focus on mentoring and support, with plenty of opportunities to learn from others through guidance, coaching, and shadowing more experienced colleagues.
In the grad program overall, there is a training course through UTS that you complete over 18 months on working in government. There is then training in your individual rotations which includes online modules and shadowing your peers. I also have had a mentor during my first rotation, who I go to with questions and for guidance.
