My role includes various legal tasks, it may be attending a client meeting and drafting a file note, proof-reading legal documents, transferring notes from one document to another, general file management, analysing contracts and drafting tables/comparative analysis of the contracts. As a law graduate most of my tasks are learning-oriented and revolve around getting a good understanding of the basics
My role allows me to get involved in "give it a first go" tasks. So, for example, if we are required to draft a letter to the client or court submissions, I will typically be asked to produce a first draft for review by someone more senior than me. This is a great learning opportunity as it enables me to hone my own skills, and then I can learn from the changes made by the senior.
My team involves mostly admin-heavy tasks with some legal work. There is a moderate amount of research and drafting tasks such as preparing parts of an affidavit or index for a statutory declaration. Some of the day-to-day tasks I find myself doing are drafting portions of a legal document, preparing memos and short notes, case research, and reviewing legal documents such as deeds and contracts.
