Very flexible when asking to go to appointments and allow you to start either later or earlier. However, I have never been offered to work from home even though in the company policy interns are allowed to work from home if their role allows.
Very flexible with study
It is extremely flexible - I can work 9-5, 8-4, 7-3... as long as I get my work done and I fulfil 38 hours a week, it's fine. However, the job doesn't really have opportunities for work-from-home/remote arrangements so every day is at the office.
In my experience, my department is not very flexible compared to other departments when it comes to working hours or remote work. Unless there is an emergency or an urgent personal matter, we are generally expected to be physically present in the office—even though most of our tasks are desktop-based and could technically be done remotely. More recently, there has also been an increasing expectation to work overtime without additional compensation. There have been comparisons made to colleagues in China, who are said to be more willing to work after hours or on weekends if requested by their managers. However, I believe it’s important to recognize that work culture and expectations in Australia are different, and such comparisons can feel unfair and demotivating.
