My employer has built and supported communities in regional WA for over 60 years. There are regular initiatives supporting and encouraging Indigenous Australians, school age students and underrepresented groups to get into the industry. They are a sizeable Australian taxpayer and sponsor local sports teams and regional schools, giving back to the Australian community. Globally the employer also supports upskilling of local employees in countries it operates in.
Haven't had much to do with it
Rio is very invested in where they operate and the impacts on both people and the environment. There are genuinely too many initiatives to list but here we support the township/clubs/initiatives very closely.
I believe management cares deeply about CSR however, I can see patterns of ignorance where not enough respect is paid to the engineering profession.
