The business does show initiative and commitment to CSR. There are a multitude of central teams which focus on sustainability initiatives which work with site based personnel to keen momentum up on these projects. A key focus for the team I'm in is water sustainability and reducing waste within this space.

Always thinking of traditional owners and social license to operate (discussed with every project approval) Any tailings discharge is performed in a controlled manner and discussed with the relevant people - I have worked on tailings density projects

I've been involved with judging the QLD hydrogen cars event run in the schools in the area. Rio tinto sponsors a team or two locally for that. Otherwise I haven't had much involvement with the other projects.

My employer has suffered greatly with it's CSR since 2021. However it is consistently making progress in bettering itself everyday as a company. Proof of this is seen in the everyday respect report which calls out the sexist, racist and generally antisocial behavior that employee's have been victim to. Identification is always the first step towards reconciliation and I believe this report is a perfect example of my employer taking initiative with its CSR. Other examples I've seen include; closing the gender gap in mining, providing training to indigenous employees as a means to provide a path to leaderships, and multiple two-way mentorship programs within the company.
